Ethics Policy

One More Catch strives to uphold the following values:

Corrections and page updates

We do our best to make sure any of our work is correct and accurate as of publishing, but in the event of any major corrections (things that aren't typos, small adjustments to wording or descriptions, formatting changes, etc), we’ll mention them at the end of articles.

Because Pokémon Go and many modern games frequently receive updates and changes to their features and how they work, we'll often update our guides to offer the new information. When that happens, we'll note what’s changed since the last update at the end of an article's introduction.

Receiving game access and press packs

Publishers often share access to their games in the form of review code, in-person press events, in-game event tickets, or beta access. This is common practice in helping outlets cover them in a timely manner, but for transparency, we'll mention when this happens in relevant coverage (such as pre-release or launch impressions, or guides to ticketed event guides) on the site or newsletter. When we use our own budget to pay for games, hardware, or in-game tickets, these instances are not disclosed.

Publishers and PRs may also offer press packs / kits alongside new releases and updates to market or promote their games. Accepting these will be considered on a case-by-case basis, especially if they are noteworthy to our audience, and if discussed on the site, newsletter or social media, their origin will be disclosed.

Ultimately, any games, event access, or press packs offered or sent to One More Catch do not guarantee coverage, impact our impressions, or how we report on things.

Accepting travel and accommodation

One More Catch is a small, independent publication with no investors or external financial backing - beyond the readers who subscribe to us. As such, our budgets and resources are limited, and so we may accept travel, accommodation, and access to events from publishers to support our coverage. Though accepting these opportunities does not impact what we cover or how we cover it, for transparency, they are disclosed at the bottom of relevant articles.

As a small, independent publication, we rely on advertising to make One More Catch a sustainable business. These adverts (coming soon) are handled by a third-party company, and have no impact on our editorial content or decision making. If you encounter any issues with our adverts, please reach out to adverts@onemorecatch.site.

We may also show sponsored messages in our newsletters, and these will be posted in a clearly highlighted content block. We will collaborate on the content and appearance of these messages, but we will maintain the final say. If you want to sponsor a newsletter, contact adverts@onemorecatch.site.

Finally, we may occasionally use affiliate links when posting to external sites and retailers. This means we will get a small commission if you go on to choose to make a purchase upon using the link, at no additional cost to you. As with adverts and sponsorships, these help support us financially, and the use of these links does not impact our coverage or the products we choose to recommend.

Use of artificial intelligence

One More Catch is strictly anti-AI - that means no LLMs or generative tools will be used in what we produce, or for assisting behind-the-scenes work like edits or ideation (unless the services we use foist AI tools upon us with no other option, but even then, we’ll endeavour to then find alternatives).

In short, we believe in creating content by people, for people. Or by trainers, for trainers, to use more Pokémon-specific parlance.

Thanks to Rogue in helping inspire elements of this policy.
