Blipbug, Dottler, and Orbeetle are debut Pokémon as part of the 'Bug Out' 2026 event in Pokémon Go.
Gen 8 bug-type Blipbug - found as early as Route 1 in the mainline games Pokémon Sword and Shield it first appears in - is surprisingly limited on its Pokémon Go debut, where it can only be discovered in Raids and the event Go Pass.
This page explains where to find a Blipbug, how to source more Candy to help you evolve one into Dottler and Orbeetle, and everything else you need to know about 'Bug Out' 2026.
How to get Blipbug in the 'Bug Out' 2026 event
You can get Blipbug from three sources during the event:
- One-star raids
- Free reward in the 'Bug Out' Go Pass (rank 30)
- Deluxe reward in the 'Bug Out' Go Pass (rank 25)
The free track of the 'Bug Out' Go Pass also sees five Blipbug Candy at rank 25.
How to get Dottler and Orbeetle in Pokémon Go
Getting Dottler and Orbeetle is straightforward - just evolve a Blipbug twice. This costs 125 Candy total (25 for Blipbug into Dottler, then 100 for Dottler into Orbeetle).
However, where you might struggle during the 'Bug Out' 2026 is sourcing Candy, since you only get one free encounter in the Go Pass and Blipbug is otherwise locked behind Raids.
How to get more Blipbug Candy in Pokémon Go
There are a few methods to get extra Candy gains for Blipbug, including:
- Use a Pinap Berry while catching
- Have a relevant Mega Evolution active (go for Mega Beedrill, Pinsir, Scizor, Heracross, or Primal Kyogre) while catching
- Have Blipbug as you Buddy Pokémon (it'll drop Candy every 1km)
- Transfer any caught Blipbug you don't want to keep
- Trade any caught Blipbug you don't want to keep
- Reach rank 25 of the free 'Bug Out' Go Pass track for five Blipbug Candy
- And if all else fails, you can always turn to Rare Candy to make up the difference
In summary, there are quite a few methods to squeeze out more Candy here and there, meaning you can save your Raid passes for something more lucrative.
Is Blipbug, Dottler, and Orbeetle shiny in Pokémon Go?
Blipbug, Dottler, and Orbeetle are not shiny on their debut. Though it's not unheard of for new Pokémon to have a shiny right away, this is usually reserved for a future date. If I had to guess, I'd say we'd see this in another 'Bug Out' event.
In the meantime, here's a preview of what shiny Blipbug, Dottler, and Orbeetle look like:

What else is in the 'Bug Out' 2026 event?
Despite its scarcity, Blipbug and evolutions Dottler and Orbeetle aren't particularly relevant in the meta, and without a shiny, they won't hold your interest for very long.
As such, here's what else is going on during the 'Bug Out' 2026 event, which runs between Tuesday, 17th March at 10am to Monday, 23rd March at 8pm:
- Blipbug and evolutions Dotter and Orbeetle debut
- Shiny Sizzlipede debuts
- New Go Pass for £5 / $5: features encounters with "event-themed Pokémon" including Blipbug, and rewards XP, Lure Modules and other common items
- Progression unlocks a 2x XP bonus on Nice Throws or better, and 2x catch Candy (increasing to 3x in the Deluxe track)

- Thursday 19th to Saturday 21st: Cutiefly, Sizzlipede
- Saturday 21st to Monday 23rd: Combee, Sizzlipede
- Paras, Cutiefly, and Combee from Lure Modules all have an increased chance to be shiny
- Raid refresh
- One-star: Blipbug
