The 'Pokémon Pokopia Celebration Event' introduces something new for Pokémon Go - costumed Ditto.
There are two costume forms available - Ditto wearing a cap, and Ditto wearing a hat - and for Pokémon Go completionists, both have the potential to be shiny and have a Special Background.
As part of the the event, the Pokémon that Ditto can be disguised will be different than usual, with the full list - as well as a recap of other event bonuses - listed below.
How to get costume Ditto in the Pokémon Pokopia event
There are three ways to encounter a costumed Ditto in the Pokémon Pokopia event, which runs between 10am local time Tuesday, 10th March to Monday, 16th March at 8pm:
Wild Pokémon transformations
The following wild Pokémon have the potential to transform into a costume Ditto:
- Bulbasaur
- Charmander
- Squirtle
- Pikachu
- Hitmonchan
- Scyther
- Marill
- Sudowoodo
- Combee
- Dribur
- Timburr
- Goomy
As a reminder, if you are hunting for a shiny Ditto, the Pokémon it is disguised as doesn't have to be shiny itself.
Timed Research
You can catch a costumed Ditto by completing the following two steps of the Pokémon Pokopia Timed Research:
- Catch 75 Pokémon (reward: Ditto wearing a cap)
- Explore 3 km (reward: Ditto wearing a hat)
While these two Timed Research catches are one-offs, both are guaranteed to have a Pokémon Pokopia Special Background.
Collection Challenges
Finally, completing Collection Challenges rewards in costumed Ditto encounters:
- Pokémon Pokopia Collection Challenge 1 (reward: Ditto wearing a cap)
- Pokémon Pokopia Collection Challenge 2 (reward: Ditto wearing a hat)
While these two rewards are one-off Ditto catches, both are guaranteed to have a Pokémon Pokopia Special Background.
