Pokémon Champions, the competitive Pokémon game that can use Pokémon from recent mainline games and Pokémon Go, is out now on Nintendo Switch systems.
If you want to use creatures from your Pokémon Go collection, you should start preparing ahead of time. Below, I'll explain why you should start transferring creatures sooner than later, how much things like CP and stats matter, and the best Pokémon to consider bringing over at launch.
Update (9th April): Tweaked the language throughout the article to reflect that the game is now available and the roster has been confirmed.

Why you should start transferring from Pokémon Go to Pokémon Home ahead of time
If you are planning on using your Pokémon Go collection in Pokémon Champions, know there is limit on how many Pokémon that can be sent from Go to Pokémon Home for free over a short period.
Every time you send Pokémon, it'll use a resource called Transporter Energy. Certain Pokémon use more energy than others, and though this recovers for free over time, it takes about a week to fully replenish.

As such, if you plan to send a lot of creatures to Pokémon Home ahead of playing Pokémon Champions, the sooner you start, the more free energy you'll have to play with, especially if you're sending shiny Pokémon. (You can use PokéCoins to recover Transporter Energy faster, but you should really avoid spending money if you need to - especially as PokéCoins are best reserved for things like permanent storage upgrades.)
Here's how to squeeze out more value out of your limited free Transporter Energy per week, and whether you need to worry about Pokémon Go CP and stats for the purposes of Pokémon Champions. (You do, but not in the way you might think.)
