Maschiff and Mabosstiff are two new additions to Pokémon Go from 2026's 'Mega Squads' event.
The Rascal and Boss Pokémon arrive from Gen 9, where Maschiff can evolve into Mabosstiff through the use of Candy alone in Pokémon Go. With regards to how to get a Maschiff, however, though it technically debuts on Tuesday, you likely won't get your hands on one until Friday at the earliest.
This guide explains how to get Maschiff and Mabosstiff in the 'Mega Squads' event, and a look at shiny Maschiff and Mabosstiff for when they eventually arrive in the game.
How to get Maschiff in Pokémon Go
Maschiff in Pokémon Go can be found from the following sources during the 'Mega Squads' event, which runs from 10am on Tuesday, 8th September to 8pm Monday, 14th August:
- 5km Eggs (from Friday 11th)
- Field Research (from Friday 11th)
- 'Mega Squads' Go Pass encounters
- Free track at rank 30
- Deluxe track at rank 60
Thanks to Serebii and Grass Cat at PokeMiners for helping flesh out the above.
In short, though Maschiff has technically debuted, it won't realistically be available until Friday for when it appears in Field Research and 5km eggs for when the event updates; that's unless you are able to motor through the event Go Pass, perhaps by buying the Deluxe version with additional tiers, and making use of every daily challenge bonus to get it as fast as possible.
How to get Mabosstiff in Pokémon Go
To get Mabosstiff in Pokémon Go, evolve an Maschiff with 50 Mabosstiff Candy.
There are no other requirements - meaning all you need to do is catch plenty of Maschiff during the event. (And remember, if you are short on Candy, you can always turn to Rare Candy to make up the difference.)
Are shiny Maschiff and shiny Mabofftiff in Pokémon Go yet?
No. Maschiff and Mabofftiff are not shiny in Pokémon Go, as tends to be the case with most new additions. (If you do want something to chase this week, then shiny Flamigo does make its debut during the 'Mega Squads' event.)
In the meantime, here's what shiny Maschiff and Mabosstiff look like:
