Shiny Snom is one of the biggest draws in this week's 'Summer Marathon: Arctic Embers' in Pokémon Go.
The new shiny debut of the Gen 8 Ice- and Bug-type will be tricky to track down due to its limited availability during the event, where it's only available from two sources: Eggs and Go Pass encounters.

How to get Snom in Pokémon Go's 'Summer Marathon: Arctic Embers' event
This week in Pokémon Go, Snom can be found from the following sources during the 'Summer Marathon: Arctic Embers' event:
- 'Summer Marathon' Go Pass encounters
- Free tracks 30 and 60
- Deluxe tracks 17, 30 and 60
- 5km Eggs
- Alongside Sneasel, Darumaka, Galarian Darumaka and Sizzlipede, who can also all be shiny
In summary, paying for the Deluxe Go Pass nets you three extra encounters (alongside bonuses such as a 1/4 Hatch Distance and 3x XP for spinning PokéStops), while there is just a chance you'll hatch one when walking a 5km Eggs. (Remember, only those collected during the event hours starting 10am on Tuesday, 4th August will feature the above Pokémon in the 5km Egg pool.)
What are the odds of getting shiny Snom?
Pretty low. In Eggs, it's believed the shiny rate is 1/64, while Go Pass shiny rates are thought to be anywhere from 1/20 to the standard wild odds of 1/512. So while Go Pass could be fairly low, with such few encounters (five total, and that's with the Deluxe track), plus the difficulty of getting a 5km Egg to hatch Snom in the first place, let alone it then be shiny, the odds will be against you.
My advice? Save your money and wait until Snom is more readily available in the future. Remember, Snom will be shiny from here on out, and chances are a future event (including the likes of a Go Tour, Go Fest or Go Wild Area event) will see Snom spawn or appear more frequently, making a shiny much easier to find - and require less money to do so.
