Pokémon Go's 'Harvest Festival: Apple Picking' Timed Research offers a choice - Flapple, Appletun or Dipplin?

Starting on Tuesday, 29th September, the Choose a Path Timed Research quest features a choice between the three Applin evolutions, with your decision impacting what evolution items you'll receive as rewards.

As for what to pick, here's some factors to consider between Flapple, Appletun or Dripplin in Pokémon Go.

Flapple, Appletun or Dipplin Choose a Path: Which is better?

After the first stage of the 'Harvest Festival: Applin Picking' Timed Research, you have a choice between the three evolutions, which will change which Apple evolution item will appear in subsequent stages. They are:

• Flapple: Receive 8 extra Tart Apples to help evolve Applin into Flapple
• Appletun: Receive 8 extra Sweet Apples to help evolve Applin into Appletun
• Dipplin: Receive 8 extra Syrupy Apples to help evolve Applin into Dipplin

Since each evolution requires the same number of Apples (20 of the respective type) then the simplest way to make the decision is to pick the one you have the least of currently for which Applin evolution you have yet to unlock.

In terms of which evolution is 'best', then none are particularly noteworthy in the meta (PvP / Raids or PvE / Go Battle League), so it really is all about which you don't have yet for your Pokédex.

Another small factor is Dipplin can evolve again into Hydrapple. Though this evolution doesn't require any further Apples, for those who want a living 'dex, then getting extra Syrupy Apples so you can have two Dipplin - one to keep, and one to evolve - is worth thinking about.

Finally, it's worth saying this choice - which rewards you with eight extra of your chosen Apple during the Timed Research, plus two of each Apple alongside other items listed below - doesn't lock you out of getting the other Apples during the 'Harvest Festival' event. You can still get them through using Mossy Lure Modules, completing the Go Pass, and catching Applin.
