Silicobra, the Gen 8 Pokémon, debuted in Pokémon Go as part of April 2026's 'Sustainability Week' event.

While a rare wild spawn during the event, Silicobra otherwise joins the likes of Wiglett and Toedscool as a biome-specific spawns, with the Sand Snake Pokémon appearing in desert environments.

For some players around the world, sourcing a desert environment might be tricky, but with the right tools, you can find out if anything is classified as such in your local area - which this Pokémon Go Silicobra guide can help you with.

With Silicobra (and evolution Sandaconda) added to the game, that's two less unreleased Pokémon in Pokémon Go you have to worry about.

How to get Silicobra in 2026's 'Sustainability Week' event in Pokémon Go

According to the official event blog post, Silicobra is spawning the wild between Tuesday, April 14 and Monday, April 20th, and going by early reports on reddit that appears to be true, even if appearances are rare.

Whether it can truly spawn anywhere, or is only in certain biomes during the event - players are reporting parks, grasslands and near rivers as possible spawn spots - isn't quite known. Either way, make sure you to keep an eye on your 'nearby' radar in the bottom right of the map screen, and / or track it via the Alert feature in the Pokédex (which only works once you have one sighting) for when a Silicobra appears.

If you struggling - or want to catch a Silicobra after the event ends - then you can track down a desert biome.

How to find a desert biome in Pokémon Go

Once the 'Sustainability Week' event ends, it's largely assumed it'll be exclusively spawning in the desert biome. Between that, and Silicobra's spawn frequency increased in desert biomes during the event, it pays to know where to find them.

You can find desert biomes by using a OpenStreetMap service like overpass turbo, which allows you to filter the map by environment, such as a desert. This URL will have the filter automatically applied, so all you have to do is then enter a location in the search box, hit Run, and you should be presented with any within that radius.

If an OSM service like overpass turbo or Overpass Ultra isn't working (at the time of writing both sites were experiencing server issues, likely due to the number of people trying to use it for this purpose) then it's worth checking in with your local Pokémon Go community, as someone else might have done the research and can point you in the right direction.

Remember, as with all biome spawns, Silicobra only has a chance of appearing in a desert, so even if you do find the biome, it might not be there often.

How to evolve Silicobra into Sandaconda

Evolving Silicobra into Sandaconda is straightforward: it requires 50 Silicobra Candy.

The challenge, however, is catching enough Silicobra to meet that requirement. Even if Silicobra spawns during the 'Sustainability Week' event are outside of the desert biome, it still might take you some time.

How to get more Silicobra Candy in Pokémon Go

There are a few methods to get extra Candy gains for Silicobra, including:

In summary, there are quite a few methods to squeeze out more Candy here and there. And remember, there's always future events where Silicobra might be far more accessible, so don't turn to your Rare Candy reserves right away: it's best reserved for Legendaries and Mythicals after all.
