Silicobra, the Gen 8 Pokémon, debuted in Pokémon Go as part of April 2026's 'Sustainability Week' event.
Silicobra joins the likes of Wiglett and Toedscool as a biome-specific spawns, with the Sand Snake Pokémon appearing in desert environments.
For some players around the world, sourcing a desert environment will be tricky. With the right tools, you can find out if anything is classified as such in your local area - which this Pokémon Go Silicobra guide can help you with.
Update (20th April): Friday saw another update to Silicobra spawns, with an update to the community-made map to help find them.
How to get Silicobra in Pokémon Go
Silicobra uses Pokémon Go's biome feature to only appear in desert-like environments, which members of the community (such as just_28_coc and singinglupines on reddit) have narrowed down to be a combination of the following:
- Sparse, non-vegetated land cover or shrubland
- Dry or desert climate
This means spawns are limited to only these parts of the world. It should be noted that it didn't start this way: on Silicobra's debut on Tuesday, April 14th, it was possible it could spawn just about anywhere - including from Daily Incense - even if these appearances were very rare.

However, in several behind-the-scenes game updates in the days that followed, these were then restricted to very specific areas with more desert-like requirements: first sparse and non-vegetated land cover, then a few days later, shrubland, widening its appearances further.
Whether it launched with the incorrect settings - or was simply adjusted to more logically follow desert environments - is unknown, but either way, Silicobra is now limited to the above biomes.
If you don't live near these environments, then remember (remote) trading is always an option. As for how to catch one yourself...
How to find a desert biome in Pokémon Go
The easiest way to find a desert biome in Pokémon Go is by using this fan-made map tool by singinglupines on reddit, which flags areas with the necessary land cover and climate requirements (sparse, non-vegetated or shrubland, plus dry or desert), giving you a clear look at the areas of the world where Silicobra could possibly spawn.

As shown, desert biomes are mainly limited to areas of the equator, and the far northern and southern hemispheres of the planet (regions you'd likely expect a desert environment to be).
Parts of Asia and North America also have this desert biome, as well as southern Europe, so it's worth visiting this link with a higher resolution (but more taxing) dataset to help narrow things down further if you want to see if there's anything near you.
If you are near a desert biome, then know that Silicobra still only has a chance of spawning. Make sure you to keep an eye on your 'nearby' radar in the bottom right of the map screen, and / or track it via the Alert feature in the Pokédex (which only works once you have one sighting) for when a Silicobra appears.
How to evolve Silicobra into Sandaconda
Evolving Silicobra into Sandaconda is straightforward: it requires 50 Silicobra Candy.

The challenge, however, is catching enough Silicobra to meet that requirement, so squeezing out more Candy per catch is paramount.
How to get more Silicobra Candy in Pokémon Go
There are a few methods to get extra Candy gains for Silicobra, including:
- Use a Pinap Berry while catching
- Have a relevant Mega Evolution active (Mega Steelix, Swampert, Camerupt, Garchomp, or Primal Groudon) while catching
- Have Silicobra as your Buddy Pokémon (it'll drop Candy every 3km)
- Transfer any caught Silicobra you don't want to keep
- Trade any caught Silicobra you don't want to keep
- And if all else fails, you can always turn to Rare Candy
In summary, there are quite a few methods to get more Candy here and there. And remember, there might be a future event where Silicobra could be more accessible, so don't turn to your Rare Candy reserves right away: it's best reserved for Legendaries and Mythicals after all.
Wishing you the very best with the hunt for Silicobra!
