Mewtwo has two Adventure Effects - Future Sight+ and Dynamic Punch+ - in Pokémon Go.
After weeks of datamines leaking their existence, the Adventure Effects were added to the game following the closing ceremony of the 2026 Pokémon World Championships on 30th August, 2026.
Here's how to get the Mewtwo Adventure Effects in Pokémon Go, and how Future Sight+ and Dynamic Punch+ work in practice.

How to get Mewtwo's Adventure Effects
Mewtwo's Adventure Effects are unlocked by:
- Mega Evolving Mewtwo into Mega Mewtwo X to unlock Dynamic Punch+
- Mega Evolving Mewtwo into Mega Mewtwo Y to unlock Future Sight+
You only need to have unlocked the first Mega Level for each Adventure Effect to be available, and you only need to do this once.
If you have already Mega Evolved a Mewtwo previously, then these Adventure Effects are available automatically. And, to clarify, to get both Adventure Effects on one Mewtwo, then you need to have Mega Evolved them with both X Energy and Y Energy at least once - though you're welcome to just unlock one or the other if you prefer.
How to use Mewtwo's Adventure Effects
Once you have unlocked the Adventure Effects, you can use them by visiting the Mewtwo's status screen, where you'll see an overview of how each one works. Each use requires 75 Mega Energy and 5 Mewtwo Candy, and only work for a limited time. The Mewtwo doesn't need to be actively Mega Evolved to use these Adventure Effects either.
However, to use Dynamic Punch+ and Future Sight+ in battle, Mewtwo does has to be actively Mega Evolved for it to appear as a third Charged Attack.

How Dynamic Punch+ works in Pokémon Go
What it does: The Dynamic Punch+ Adventure Effect increases damage to Mega-Evolved Pokémon in raids, and can remove two shields in Super Mega Raids instead of the normal one, for 10 minutes.
How this works in practice: Damage increases by 1.15x (thanks for Matt at PokeMiners for confirming this stat), which is not a dramatic increase, but if you're playing in a small group and the odds are stacked against you, can make a small difference.
How Future Sight+ works in Pokémon Go
What it does: The Future Sight+ Adventure Effect reveals when a Pokémon you encounter in the wild has high stats (3* and higher) for 12 minutes.
How this works in practice: When you encounter a high stat Pokémon, it gives it a special animation at the start of the catch phase, as well as a yellow glow behind the name / CP bar of the Pokémon. There are also unconfirmed reports that it will be a red glow if the Pokémon is 4* / has 100% stats.

It does not show the Pokémon glowing on the map screen - it's only when you actually tap them that you can see whether they have high stats - while the stats themselves won't be fully clear until they have been caught (unless it's 100% stats, where it will change to the rumoured red). It also only shows on wild spawns - not Pokémon caught from Field Research, the Go Pass and other sources.
To be honest, I'm struggling to think of a circumstance where this is useful. Even if the 4* / 100% red glow effect is true, these are so rare in the wild that I'm not sure it'll be worth the Mega Energy or Candy spend for it to show up. (And if you were hunting for hundos during Community Day or Spotlight Hour, then you can simply research the 100% CP values and look out for them instead).
Mewtwo's Adventure Effects arrived on the same day as the Mega Chesnaught, Delphox or Greninja choice as part of the 'Mega Ascension' event, which is building up to a packed Go Fest: Mega Finale raid schedule that features the return of Armored Mewtwo.
