Pokémon Go's 'Summer Marathon' Timed Research rewards a rare costumed Pokémon: Pikachu wearing a marathon visor.
Running between Tuesday, 4th August at 10am to Monday, 10th August at 8pm local time as part of the 'Summer Marathon: Arctic Embers' event, the Timed Research is similar to the 'Spring Marathon' event, in that it ends in the costumed Pokémon - except this time, there are multiple steps along the way.
On this page is the 'Summer Marathon' Timed Research rewards in Pokémon Go, helping you get that marathon visor-wearing Pokémon.
'Summer Marathon' Timed Research
The following research has to be completed before Monday, 10th August at 8pm local time:
'Summer Marathon' Timed Research quest (step 1/1)
- Explore 5km (reward: 4,200 XP)
- Explore 10km (reward: 4,200 XP)
- Explore 21km (reward: 4,200 XP)
- Explore 42km (reward: 4,200 XP)
End reward: Pikachu with a marathon visor costume encounter

Is there another way to get Pikachu with a marathon visor in the 'Summer Marathon: Arctic Embers' event?
Nope. As with the 'Spring Marathon' Timed Research earlier in the year, this is the only way to get the marathon visor Pikachu costume during 'Summer Marathon: Arctic Embers'.
This means there's just one attempt at a getting a shiny during the event. However, since this costumed Pikachu has already appeared once previously, there's a possibility it'll show up again before 2026 is out; could we see an Autumn Marathon event, for example?
(This is speculation on my part, but either way, it's likely you'll have another shot at a marathon visor Pikachu one day.)
Best of luck with 'Summer Marathon: Arctic Embers' event, including finding a shiny Snom!
