Arrokuda and Barraskewda are two new additions to Pokémon Go as part of 2026's 'Water Festival' event.
The Rush and Skewer Pokémon arrive from Gen 8, where Arrokuda can evolve into Barraskewda through the use of Candy alone.
As for how to get Arrokuda, it won't appear during the wild this week - meaning you have to track it down through event-specific activities like Field Research and the event-specific Go Pass.
This guide explains how to get Arrokuda and Barraskewda in Pokémon Go's 'Water Festival' event this week, and a look at shiny Arrokuda and Barraskewda for when they eventually arrive in the game.
How to get Arrokuda in Pokémon Go
This week in Pokémon Go, Arrokuda can be found from the following sources during the 'Water Festival' event, which runs from 10am Tuesday, 18th August to 8pm Monday, 24th August:
- Field Research
- Catch 15 Water-type Pokémon (rewards either Arrokuda, Feebas or Clamperl)
- Attracted to Rainy Lure Modules (during event hours)
- 'Water Festival' Go Pass encounters
- Free track at ranks 13 and 28
- Deluxe track at ranks 13 and 28
Thanks to Grass Cat at PokeMiners for helping flesh out the above.
In summary, there are a few ways of getting your hands on an Arrokuda through exploring by using a Rainy Lure Module or completing the event-specific Field Research task which has a chance of rewarding an Arrokuda encounter.
But if you don't manage either one of those, then naturally progressing the Go Pass will at least net you two encounters, with a couple more at the same time if you opt for the Deluxe track.
How to get Barraskewda in Pokémon Go
To get Barraskewda, evolve an Arrokuda with 50 Arrokuda Candy. There are no other requirements - meaning catching Arrokuda should be your main focus. (And, if you are a few Candy short, remember you can use Rare Candy to get you over the line.)
Are Arrokuda and Barraskewda shiny in Pokémon Go?
They are not. Arrokuda and Barraskewda are not shiny in Pokémon Go on their debut, which is the case of the majority of new additions to the game. As for when they will become shiny, our money would be on a future 'Water Festival' event.
In the meantime, here's what shiny Arrokuda and Barraskewda look like, trading their brown colour for a metallic light blue:

Best of luck with the 'Water Festival' event, including your journey in catching a Cramorant.
