Staraptor and Mega Staraptor are new additions to Pokémon Champions as of Season M-3 and the Pokémon Champions roster refresh.
The Gen 4 Normal- and Flying-type has seen a lot of interest at launch due to Mega Staraptor's Ability, Contrary, that reverses any stat changes that take place during battle.
This guide explains how to get Staraptor in Pokémon Champions - useful if you're new to the game with the mobile release, and aren't sure how recruitment or importing works - plus how to get Mega Staraptor by using a Staraptite in battle.
How to get Staraptor in Pokémon Champions
Staraptor in Pokémon Champions has to either be recruited in-game or transferred from another Pokémon entry. The methods are as follows:
- Recruit Staraptor as part of the in-game Recruit feature
- Transfer Staraptor from Pokémon Home
For the first method, it requires a dose of luck, where Staraptor has to appear as one of the 10 Pokémon in the recruitment line-up. If Staraptor doesn't appear, you either have to wait 22 hours for the free Recruit option to appear again, or spend Quick Coupons to speed up the process.

For the Pokémon Home method, you have to catch Staraptor (or one of its pre-evolutions Starly and Staravia, then evolve to Staraptor) in an eligible game (including Pokémon Go, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Legends: Arceus, Scarlet and Violet or Legends: ZA).
From there, import Staraptor into Pokémon Home, then on Pokémon Champions's Recruit screen, select 'Collect from Pokémon Home'. Here's how to link Pokémon Champions to Pokémon Home if you haven't already:

How to get Mega Staraptor with Staraptite in Pokémon Champions
To get Mega Staraptor, you have to Mega Evolve Staraptor in battle by having Staraptor hold a Staraptite Mega Stone.
You can get a Staraptite in Pokémon Champions with the following steps:
- Select Shop on the main menu
- Select Frontier Shop
- Browse Mega Stones (second on the list)
- Select Staraptite, then purchase it for 2,000 VP

From there, you can equip Staraptite by selecting Box on the main menu, moving Staraptor into a team, selecting Held Items, then going to the Mega Stone menu and selecting Staraptite.
You can watch the full purchasing and equip steps in the following video:
From there, you're set. Remember, you can only Mega Evolve Staraptor provided you haven't Mega Evolved any other Pokémon during that battle. When you do, Staraptor gains the coveted Contrary ability.
