Pokémon Go has released '10th Anniversary Celebration' Timed Research that rewards a Mewtwo with maxed out stats - and it's free for all players.

Available between Wednesday, 12th August at 4pm PDT and Sunday, 6th September 6 at 11:59pm local time, the Mewtwo features max stats and a Special Background, as well as a third Mega Level for Mega Mewtwo Y.

Additionally, the Timed Research - which can be completed in a matter of minutes - also gives Pokémon Go players 500 Mewtwo Mega Energy and a Master Ball.

If you were wondering the reason behind this generous giveaway, it appears to be making up for the guaranteed hundo Mewtwo given away to attendees at a 10th anniversary event in New York's Times Square last month, a move which caused complaints amongst the community.

Developer Scopely Explore has also confirmed the "Mewtwo with a Times Square background will be available again at some point in the future" - meaning the seemingly exclusive giveaway will see a wider release in time. And, for those who were at the New York event, the Mewtwo in this free Timed Research will offer different stats and rewards.

The '10th Anniversary Celebration' Timed Research is below.
