Welcome to the latest One More Catch weekly newsletter, offering you a guide to the week ahead in Pokémon Go.
It's June, and the second week of in-person Go Fest season. It's now Chicago's turn, where those in the Americas have their chance to catch a Mega Mewtwo and other timed-exclusive Pokémon. For everyone else, there's another leader-themed quest to keep us occupied, as well as a new season - 'Forever Forward' - bringing in some minor changes to the weekly structure, regular rewards, and Daily Discoveries.
So here's a snapshot of everything coming to Pokémon Go in the days ahead, the biggest opportunities available, and a roundup of Pokémon news and site updates you may have missed.
Events in Pokémon Go this week (1st to 7th June)
All times are at your local time, unless otherwise stated.
What to know about this week
Here's the biggest opportunities and observations for the days ahead:
Non-Go Fest event of the week...
New wild spawns and Pokémon in 7km Eggs in the 'Spark's Caretaking Quest' event. Starting on Tuesday, this is the second of three Instinct, Mystic and Valor leader-themed events that build up to each regional Go Fest (in this case, Chicago).

As with last week, new wild spawns is a real highlight in a period that has lacked much variety. But there's also 7km Eggs, perfect for those who are tired of the existing selection whenever they open Gifts.
In terms of what to expect, here's the list, according to the official event blog post. All of these can be shiny, by the way:
- Wild spawns: Bulbasaur, Alolan Raichu, Drowzee, Jolteon, Dratini, Houndour, Lileep, Combee
- 7km Eggs: Pichu, Elekid, Shinx, Varoom, Galarian Corsola, Hisuian Qwilfish
- Field Research encounters: Bulbasaur, Drowzee, Jolteon, Dratini, Houndour, Lileep, Combee, Galarian Corsola, Alolan Raichu

Tuesday is busy...
Beyond the Tuesday event, a new 'Forever Forward' season and a new monthly Go Pass means a few other things are changing and updating. Highlights include:
- The return of the Timed Incubator in the monthly Go Pass, which for my money is the best item featured in these tickets, and is timed perfectly for those pounding the streets of Chicago or Copenhagen at Go Fest in June.
- The big change for the new season is tweaks to the Daily Discoveries weekly schedule - my dedicated story has the full breakdown of what's been added and removed.
- The highlight is the introduction of 'Scenic Sunday', which encourages you to walk Routes by offering more wild spawns, Incense spawns, reduced Buddy Candy distance and increased Mateo appearances. One for all the fellow Route fans out there (there are dozens of us!).

- Updates to the weekly Research Breakthrough rewards and Egg pools, which going by the official 'Forever Forward' season page, include:
- Research Breakthroughs: Dragonite, Axew, Honedge, Jangmo-o, Indeedee, Klawf
- 2km Eggs: Exeggcute, Corphish, Wynaut, "and more"
- 5km Eggs: Riolu, Mantyke, Flittle, "and more"
- 5km Adventure Sync: Tyrogue, Sableye, Budew, "and more"
- 7km: Alolan Diglett, Galarian Corsola, Galarian Darumaka, "and more"
- 7 km Eggs from Mateo: Hisuian Growlithe, Hisuian Sneasel, White-Striped Form Basculin "and more"
- 10km Eggs: Mawile, Absol, Frigibax "and more"
- 10km Adventure Sync: Bagon, Druddigon, Drampa "and more"
- Shadow Legendary Raids get a refresh - expect Shadow Dialga to appear until 30th June.
- And last (but certainly not least), a new season means a new loading screen, likely teasing upcoming additions such as Mega Raichu X and Y. It's always a treat when these drop.
Go Fest continues
Go Fest continues this week. This is for the Chicago leg, which starts in full on Friday, and as with Tokyo, sees attendees earn a Mega Mewtwo X & Y (in a questline and Unity Raids), mythical Zeraora, new costumed Pikachu and more. You can see the full offering on the official website.
Remember, players not attending an in-person Go Fest can't get these yet, and will have to wait until the free Go Fest: Global in mid-July.

That said, there are some raids you can Remote Raid into as of the Thursday when the City Explorer experience begins. As with Tokyo last week, you won't get location backgrounds, or in the case of Paldean Tauros, a shiny version, as all those are reserved for ticketed attendees only.
Those Go Fest: Chicago raids in question are:
- Blaze Breed Paldean Tauros, Mewtwo*, Zapdos, Raikou, Primal Kyogre, Primal Groudon, Shadow Zapdos, Shadow Raikou, Shadow Kyogre, Shadow Groudon
*These will not grant you Mega Mewtwo Energy: our full how to get Mega Mewtwo explainer goes into more detail when this drops for everyone.
Still nothing on Saturday?
Correct. As with Tokyo last week, with Go Fest: Chicago going on, there's no Saturday event. You can get involved by doing Remote Raids for the above local raids, and / or cracking on with the 'Spark's Caretaking Quest' event.
What's new in Pokémon and Pokémon Go?
- A lot of news has been looking forward to, well, 'Forever Forward'. The headline is that Mega Raichu X and Y will make their debut this season, alongside Mega Skarmory, Dynamax Electabuzz, Dynamax Magikarp, Dynamax Feebas "and more":

- For June, a full breakdown of events have been released through the usual series of infographics:

- Something missing above is the June Community Day, which as you might have guessed based on previous years, will be Frigibax. Feels a bit weird to have an Ice-type in the summer, but definitely one to get excited over:

- Looking further ahead, there was a vote on Sunday for August Community Day. There's been no winner confirmed at the time of the writing, but something tells me one Pokémon will Nickit:

- A contest for fans to submit Pokémon TCG Lego designs has reached the voting stage, and the selection is absolutely incredible:

- And finally, I rather enjoyed this video by adef on using math(s) to create an infinite Pokémon battle:
One More Catch notes
For subscribers, I posted my impressions and what to expect from National Trust's Pokémon trails, which rolled out last month. These are running until 6th September, so hopefully it's a useful review and mini-guide of what to expect if you're walking one yourself:

On the guides front, I put together a comprehensive guide to getting Mega Mewtwo and the confusing issue of Mewtwo Mega Energy, which is dropping for some players now, and everyone else later in the summer. Here's how it all works:

Beyond that, expect One More Catch's first full freelance commissions this week! There will be a couple of reports from Go Fest: Tokyo by talented friends of the site who attended over the weekend. They're also providing some of their footage for the One More Catch YouTube channel, so follow if you don't already for a taste of what they've been catching.
As usual, we wrap with a reminder that you can subscribe to One More Catch for bonus articles, extra site functionality, and as a way to show your support for the newsletter and site in general. I'd really appreciate it if you can contribute:
