Welcome to the latest One More Catch weekly newsletter, offering you a guide to the week ahead in Pokémon Go.

It's June, and the second week of in-person Go Fest season. It's now Chicago's turn, where those in the Americas have their chance to catch a Mega Mewtwo and other timed-exclusive Pokémon. For everyone else, there's another leader-themed quest to keep us occupied, as well as a new season - 'Forever Forward' - bringing in some minor changes to the weekly structure, regular rewards, and Daily Discoveries.

So here's a snapshot of everything coming to Pokémon Go in the days ahead, the biggest opportunities available, and a roundup of Pokémon news and site updates you may have missed.

What to know about this week

Here's the biggest opportunities and observations for the days ahead:

Non-Go Fest event of the week...

New wild spawns and Pokémon in 7km Eggs in the 'Spark's Caretaking Quest' event. Starting on Tuesday, this is the second of three Instinct, Mystic and Valor leader-themed events that build up to each regional Go Fest (in this case, Chicago).

As with last week, new wild spawns is a real highlight in a period that has lacked much variety. But there's also 7km Eggs, perfect for those who are tired of the existing selection whenever they open Gifts.

In terms of what to expect, here's the list, according to the official event blog post. All of these can be shiny, by the way:

Tuesday is busy...

Beyond the Tuesday event, a new 'Forever Forward' season and a new monthly Go Pass means a few other things are changing and updating. Highlights include:

Go Fest continues

Go Fest continues this week. This is for the Chicago leg, which starts in full on Friday, and as with Tokyo, sees attendees earn a Mega Mewtwo X & Y (in a questline and Unity Raids), mythical Zeraora, new costumed Pikachu and more. You can see the full offering on the official website.

Remember, players not attending an in-person Go Fest can't get these yet, and will have to wait until the free Go Fest: Global in mid-July.

That said, there are some raids you can Remote Raid into as of the Thursday when the City Explorer experience begins. As with Tokyo last week, you won't get location backgrounds, or in the case of Paldean Tauros, a shiny version, as all those are reserved for ticketed attendees only.

Those Go Fest: Chicago raids in question are:

*These will not grant you Mega Mewtwo Energy: our full how to get Mega Mewtwo explainer goes into more detail when this drops for everyone.

Still nothing on Saturday?

Correct. As with Tokyo last week, with Go Fest: Chicago going on, there's no Saturday event. You can get involved by doing Remote Raids for the above local raids, and / or cracking on with the 'Spark's Caretaking Quest' event.

One More Catch notes

For subscribers, I posted my impressions and what to expect from National Trust's Pokémon trails, which rolled out last month. These are running until 6th September, so hopefully it's a useful review and mini-guide of what to expect if you're walking one yourself:

National Trust Pokémon trail review and what to expect
Touching tall grass.

On the guides front, I put together a comprehensive guide to getting Mega Mewtwo and the confusing issue of Mewtwo Mega Energy, which is dropping for some players now, and everyone else later in the summer. Here's how it all works:

How to get Mega Mewtwo and Mewtwo Mega Energy in Pokémon Go
In-person Go Fest attendees are the first to Mega Evolve Mewtwo and earn Mega Energy. But how does it work, and when is it coming to all players?

Beyond that, expect One More Catch's first full freelance commissions this week! There will be a couple of reports from Go Fest: Tokyo by talented friends of the site who attended over the weekend. They're also providing some of their footage for the One More Catch YouTube channel, so follow if you don't already for a taste of what they've been catching.
