Available between 2pm and 5pm local time on Saturday, 31st October, the Timed Research rewards players for taking part in the Super Mega Raid Day taking place at the same time - though, technically, you don't have to battle Mega Chandelure to get the rewards.

The following research has to be completed before the Chandelure Super Mega Raid Day event ends at 5pm local time:
'Chandelure Super Mega Raid Day' Timed Research quest (step 1/1)
- Catch 1 Pokémon (reward: Tyranitar encounter)
- Power up Pokémon 15 times (reward: 300 Mega Tyranitar Energy)
- Use 3 supereffective Charged Attacks (reward: 5,000 Stardust)
- Win a raid (reward: 3 Charged TMs)
- Defeat a Fire- or Ghost-type Raid Boss (reward: 10 Larvitar XL Candy)
End reward: 1 Premium Raid Pass
In summary, to get everything, you'll want to take part in a raid between the hours of 2pm and 5pm; Mega Chandelure is what it's designed for, but if you can't manage that, then as a Ghost-type, one-star Sinistea will also do.
