Pokémon Go Fest Global arrives in Pokémon Go after a lengthy raid week with 'Road of Legends'.
Hope you've saved some Link Charges or Raid Passes, as Mega Mewtwo has arrived for all players. But if you can't go out and battle, the good news is branching Timed Research 'Genetic Mastery' means you can get one for free, alongside Mythical Zeraora.
Beyond that, there's just about every five-star Pokémon returning to raids, a rotating schedule of spawns, many bonuses and much more to take advantage of over the next couple of days. Let's dive right in.
Update (July 12th): Added a section explaining the Sunday differences.
Go Fest Global 2026 Sunday differences
Here's the differences with Go Fest Global 2026 on Sunday:
- New wild spawns and raid schedule (see next section for both)
- New Field Research as part of the hourly rotating schedule
- Mega Mewtwo Y in Super Mega Raids
- Reports of Global Challenges increasing in difficulty
There's no new Timed Research or Special Research. Speaking of which, know that once Go Fest Global 2026 ends, the 'Genetic Mastery' Timed Research will expire - so make sure you finish every step before 7pm.
Also, if you missed it, overnight the second of two Link Charge Go Fest codes were released, granting you 200 Link Charges and 30 Poké Balls for free.
Go Fest Global 2026 Sunday habitat schedule
A note on the above - all can be shiny aside from Incarnate Forme Enamorus and Therian Forme Enamorus.
Go Fest Global 2026 Incense encounters and new debuts
As well as the above rotating spawns, the following will spawning throughout all days when using an Incense. All of these can be shiny:
- All forms of Unown
- Tropius
- Bouffalant

And if you were wondering what else to target, new debuts include:
- Pikachu wearing a Team Instinct Hat, Team Mystic Hat, Team Valor hat
- Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle wearing a Pikachu visor can all be evolved
- Mega Mewtwo X
- Mega Mewtwo Y
- Zeraora
As for how to get Mega Mewtwo and Zeraora in particular, the following section will help. The costume Pikachu, meanwhile, can be encountered in the Zeraora questline.
In a weekend where rotating spawns are vague that chasing down shinies is difficult, hopefully the above can give you some focus.
'Go Fest Global' 2026 Timed and Special Research
There are a couple of Timed and Special Research opportunities available. These are:
- 'A Thunderous Discovery' (Special Research for Zeraora, available right away)
- 'Genetic Mastery' (Timed Research which includes a Mega Mewtwo X or Y choice, available right away)
Know that 'Genetic Mastery' expires at the end of the event, whereas 'A Thunderous Discovery' can be completed at your own pace.

Go Fest Global 2026 tips and tricks
Here's a few extra things to know this weekend:
- I've purposely excluded Field Research for the weekend to keep this guide tight, but the headline is one that offers 150 Mega Mewtwo Energy for completing a raid.
- This is well worth hunting down for those attempting to get through Mewtwo Mega Levels this weekend; you get X energy on Saturday and Y energy on Sunday, and since Field Research resets every hour, it's worth going back to previously spun PokéStops throughout the day.
- That said, my own experience suggests it to be pretty rare, where over five or so hours of play I only encountered it twice, and that was with pretty regular PokéStop spinning.
So ‘Win a Raid’ research DOES exist

- The appearance of all Unowns from Incense is quietly one of the best parts of the weekend, meaning you can fill in the gaps in your collection - and make a start on shinies of each if you haven't already.

- Make sure you activate Party Play, as it's a way to get extra easy rewards while playing - and if you're raiding alongside your team, a boost in battle.
- Though the event runs between 10am and 7pm, know that raids occur all day - and that you can Remote Raid to other regions if you can swing an invite. (Though make sure you use your free nine Raid Passes from spinning Gyms before dipping into Remote Raid Passes.)
- As the event wraps, avoid transferring any rare Pokémon until the 'Special Anniversary Pikachu Celebration' on Monday, 10am local time. This is where a 2x Transfer Candy bonus will kick in, which can increase to 3x Transfer Candy if you buy the event's Deluxe Go Pass track.

- If you are doing Mewtwo Super Mega Raids this weekend, make sure you include a Mega Evolved Pokémon in your line-up. Here's a quick refresher on how Super Mega Raids work:
- Make sure you have a Mega Evolved Pokémon in your battle party, but not in the number one slot, so you can switch to it when you need to during the shield phase. (You want to avoid a situation where it's been knocked out ahead of time.)
- If your Mega has been knocked out, back out of the battle by pressing the button in the top corner (you won't leave the encounter entirely), revive them, then return so you can help out the next time shields appear.
- If possible, it's worth (politely) reminding your group of these mechanics when you meet so there's no frustration mid-battle. This is a lot hard when battling remotely, of course, so if you are having difficulty with randoms online, it might be worth heading to an in-person event if you can.
- Also, know that Primal Kyogre or Groudon won't break shields, despite sorta being Megas. Annoying - but make sure you use something else.
- Finally, if you bought the Deluxe 'Road of Legends' Go Pass, make sure you play enough to get the Gold Bottle Cap, and then use it before it expires. As for what to use it on, your favourite Mega Mewtwo from the weekend is a good bet - otherwise this Gold Bottle Cap guide can offer suggestions.
Before you set out the door, a few reminders...
Remember to pack the essentials, including:
- Your Go Plus device
- Charging packs and cables
- Water and snacks
- Comfortable footwear and appropriate clothing - a hat, shades, etc
- A planned route so you can factor in regular stops (if you can situate yourself near a café as you go, all the better)
These are all things I remind myself before a long day's play, as it's very easy to get carried away. If you don't get the raid targets you're after, you can always Remote Raid in the evening (though know the nine free Raid Passes only apply to local raids - to try and use them first).
And remember, if you don't get the Pokémon you're after, there is almost always another opportunity at a future event (and if not, that's what trading is for). Ultimately, pacing yourself on weekends like these is more important!
Phew! Very best of luck with the event this weekend. I hope you get the shinies and Mewtwos you're after. If this guide was useful, forward it on to a friend, and / or subscribe to the newsletter mailing list if you haven't already.
